Meeting Minutes
August 10, 2010
Present: Betty Lewis, Paul McDonald, Mike Deming, Jim Hutchinson, David Thurston
Motion to accept the June 15, 2010 meeting minutes made by Paul McDonald, seconded by Jim Hutchinson. All members vote approval. Motion carried.
Certificates of Appropriateness:
29 Grover St. – Bob Guy, contractor – house has three furnaces and two water heaters using the same flue causing an increased level of CO2 in the basement. Plan is to reline the chimney and install an exterior B vent on the rear of the house to handle the load.
Stephen Selvek – B vent will not be visible from the street, it is screened by a bump out on the house. Would prefer an interior resolution but the area is not accessible or feasible to do so. Not opposed to this solution as the vent will not be readily visible. No cuts will be made except where attached.
Jim Hutchinson – questions rise above the roof.
Bob Guy – one foot.
Stephen Selvek – does not have to be very high as it is only venting gas.
Paul McDonald makes a motion to approve, seconded by David Thurston. All members vote approval. Motion carried.
Stephen Selvek – Received an application today for a repair in kind for the barn behind Brew Funeral Home on South St. One side is failing and has become lower than the other. Intent is to repair/elevate and replace siding in kind as needed, paint, replace the light fixture with historically appropriate fixture. If something changes it will come before this Board otherwise it will be approved in house.
